Jeannie Folk grew up on the south side of Chicago, moved to the north side to attend Loyola University Chicago, and then moved to the far western suburbs to raise her three children. She moved downtown when her youngest went off to college. She now lives near Belmont Harbor and loves being able to take advantage of the Lakefront on a daily basis.

After a long, successful career as a CPA with one of the big international public accounting  firms, she realized that she needed to slow down her life. After earning her Masters at Northern Illinois University,  she taught accounting at a community college for the next 22 years. She elected to take advantage of an early “retirement” buyout from the college in 2013. Since she does not understand what it means to be retired, she now works from home full-time as a writer and higher education consultant.
